Venues, Caterers For The Food-Obsessed

Even if you're not in the market for a wedding right now, you might soon be glued to the television watching The Royal Nuptials on April 29, suddenly having strong opinions on the matter. While most people will fret over the dress, the bridesmaids, etc., we're pretty single-minded about what's important: 1) The Booze. 2) The Food. 3) The Cake.

If you're not into throwing a restaurant reception (here's a list of the best spots in NYC if you are), then book the catering offshoot of a well-known eatery, or someone with an impressive culinary resume (i.e. Crave is run by former Nobu and Blue Hill staff).

For starters, there's Danny Meyer's Blue Smoke Catering (from $35/person, think hog pits and pulled pork sliders); his Union Square Events ($25-$250/person); Daniel Boulud's Feast & Fetes (from $185/person, expect black-tie French); Frankies Home Style Catering (from the duo behind Frankies Spuntino); Joey Campanaro's Little Owl Catering (of The Little Owl so you can expect these sliders, from $275/person); and Pies-N-Thighs (from $20/person, ideal for a backyard wedding).

Want a food truck to pull up to your reception or after-party? Food Network star and Fonda Nolita chef Aaron Sanchez is now catering weddings, and will arrive with his taco truck—er, tacombi—and all (from $7,000). [The Feast; NYM Weddings]
